New Head Coach Martin Edwards

We are pleased to welcome Martin Edwards as the swimming section new head coach.  Below is a short background to Martin.

Born in Birmingham and swam competitively for Camp Hill Edwardians Swim Club.  Swam for Great Britain’s Junior National Team 1971, represented Great Britain at the Munich Olympic Games 1972, 1st World Championships Belgrade 1973 and England’s Commonwealth Games Team Christchurch, N.Z. 1974.  National Champion 100m Butterfly 1973.

Moved to the United States in 1975 to attend Pepperdine University on a swimming scholarship, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education & Kinesiology 1979.

He began his coaching career in Southern California in 1980 with CLASS Aquatics then moved to Curacao in 1984 to be the National Coach of the Netherland Antilles.  He then returned to the United States coaching teams in California, Massachusetts, Maine and Virginia.  Martin has had the opportunity to work alongside USA Olympic Coaches as well as having a coaching role in the development of Olympic swimmers and former World Record holders. 

He returned to the UK in August 2013 to continue his coaching career and is really excited to be coaching at OTTER Swim Club.
