The BWPL Championship 1 kicked off in Walsall last weekend. Lutra went in looking to continue their unbeaten run after 7 wins from 7 in Phase 1 of the competition.

Lutra's first game of championship one was against Liverpool Liver Birds. It was a tough first game of the weekend and we knew that it would be harder than the first time we played them (due to the fact that they had their goal keeper and other other key players back) nevertheless, we played really well and drew the game 10-10 with goals from Holly Campbell 2, Katy cutler 2, Nahn van wyke 2, Sarah Connolly 2, Lidia Toth 1, and Emma Shkurka 1

Game 2 at 10.00 on the Sunday was always going to be tough it was our first game against a team that had dropped down from division 1 Sheffield Sharks. We let the game get away from us in the first half going 13-2 down after the first half, however I'm true Otter spirit we picked ourselves up and things started to fall into place and the goals started going in. The game finished 18-7 and we ended up tying the 2nd half which is a massive positive to take from the game. Goals went to Katy cutler 3, Lidia Toth 2 & Holly Campbell 1.

Our 2nd game on the Sunday and our third of the weekend was another toughie and against the team that finished second in division 2 behind us, the Welsh Wanderers. It was a slight grudge match. However the result didn't quite go our way with the wanderers coming out on top 8-6. Katy Cutler was amongst the goal scorers again with 2, Emma Shkurka 2, Nahn van wyke 1, and Lindsay Williams 1.

It was a tough weekend and everyone played really well the whole weekend and we are looking forward to our next weekend 11/12th February at Haberdashers where we take on Hucknall & London Penguin!!!!
